Janet Muhm is a graphic designer, illustrator and writer who lives, works and plays in St. Louis! Her inspiration for A YEAR IN THE CITY comes from old travel posters, which capture people enjoying the places they love. She wants to instill this same feeling in St. Louis citizens and visitors as they discover – and rediscover – the metro area’s many treasures.
Janet wants to encourage people to share their STL pride by hanging images from A YEAR IN THE CITY in their homes and offices year after year. That was the thinking behind her calendar format, which trims down to fit in a standard 11 x 14 frame.
Janet’s work is created in Adobe Illustrator from reference material she herself has photographed. She draws the images, rather than manipulating them digitally, then adds in details and people to illustrate the story she wants to tell…a special date night, a family visit to the orchard, a shy child on the playground. These tales are as timeless as the places in which they occur.
Janet is married to Kevin. They have two grown children, two growing grandchildren, and three fur babies. And…they have a love affair with St. Louis.
